Botany Internship for BSc
Plant Sciences & Field Research Internship Program at Utkal University (NEP-2020)
About this internship
Plant Sciences & Field Research Internship Program — Utkal University (NEP-2020)
Hands-on botany internship for UG students at Utkal University under NEP-2020. Train in plant taxonomy, field studies, herbarium techniques, microscopy, and plant biotechnology.
The Plant Sciences & Field Research Internship at Utkal University gives B.Sc. Botany students an immersive, NEP-2020-aligned learning experience that combines classical taxonomic training with modern plant science tools. Drawing on Utkal University's strong tradition in biological sciences and Odisha's rich floristic diversity, interns gain practical exposure to plant identification and classification, field collection and documentation, herbarium preparation, light and stereo microscopy, plant anatomy and histology, basic plant tissue culture, and foundational plant biotechnology and biodiversity conservation. Structured field visits to local ecosystems, botanical gardens, and protected habitats around Bhubaneswar reinforce ecological literacy and observational skills. Each intern completes a guided mini-project — ranging from medicinal plant surveys to morphometric studies — and submits a formal report. The program prepares students for postgraduate studies, research careers in plant biology and ecology, and roles in agriculture, pharmacology, and environmental sectors. A verified Utkal University certificate and NEP-2020 credits are awarded upon successful completion.
